University provided computers do not use McAfee. These messages that say McAfee has detected a virus or a trojan are Internet pop-up messages being sent to one of the websites opened in a browser. They are attempting to scam you by pretending to be notifying you of a virus, but will instead install a virus or perhaps try to sell you something if you interact with them. You can close them. If you are still worried you can be extra sure by running a virus scan. Type virus into the search bar by the start button and then click Virus & threat protection.

This screen will come up where you can check for updates first and then run a scan.
